MOSIS offers a design rule checking (DRC) service for many processes
using an assortment of tools for designs submitted by paying
commercial customers.
How To Request a DRC
Customers must request this service, and can do so any time up to one
week before the layout is due at MOSIS. A MOSIS manufacturability
review (see Submitting Designs FAQ,
What is a
Manufacturability Review?) which is sometimes confused with a DRC,
is carried out on every design to insure manufacturability. A
manufacturability review is NOT a DRC. A DRC, which requires
additional handling and overhead, must be specifically requested, and
an appropriate funding authorization must be available.
To request a DRC, type the word "DRC" in the
SPECIAL
HANDLING parameter of your
NEW PROJECT request,
FABRICATE request,
or the
UPDATE request.
The cost of DRC varies by technology and process. Send a
Custom Price Quote Request
for the DRC price specific to your design.
Submit your layout in time for MOSIS to perform the DRC and for your
designers to make any modifications before the run closes. To help
you plan accordingly, remember that it takes MOSIS one week to
schedule and carry out a manual DRC. If you submit your layout
exactly one week before the run closes you run the risk of getting the
results on the day the run closes, too late for your designers to make
any changes.
MOSIS will provide a DRC output listing at no charge for TSMC 0.35,
0.25, and 0.18 micron design submissions that meet specific conditions
(see MOSIS DRC for TSMC .).
If a design is cancelled after the free DRC option is exercised, the
account will be invoiced for the standard DRC fee. For all other
processes, please contact
support@mosis.com for current
price, and include the cost in your
purchase order.
Interpreting the results and determining appropriate actions is the
responsibility of the design team, not the MOSIS staff. MOSIS does
not analyze the DRC outputs and takes no actions based on them.
Projects submitted with uncorrected design rule violations will be
fabricated unless the violations result in manufacturability problems
that may affect other projects on the wafer.
MOSIS does not offer DRC services for MEP account submissions.
